Waivers have been a huge thing in the NHL lately. On Sunday, the Montreal Canadiens placed a young forward to that list.

On Sunday, the Montreal Canadiens placed forward Alex Barré-Boulet on waivers with the intention of loaning him to the Laval Rocket of the AHL.
In his two Habs games this season, the 27-year-old native of Montmagny, Quebec, has failed to register a single point.
Barré-Boulet participated in the Canadiens' first two games of the season before being declared a healthy scratch for the team's 4-1 victory over the Ottawa Senators at Bell Centre on Saturday. Despite finishing his final junior season in the QMJHL with the Blainville-Boisbriand Armada, posting 53-63-116 totals in 65 games, the 5-foot-10, 174-pound player from Montmagny was never selected at the NHL Draft. Barré-Boulet's career NHL stats are 12-6-18 in 70 games.
Barré-Boulet, who played 36 games with the Tampa Bay Lightning last season and recorded six goals and three assists, inked a one-year contract with the Canadiens this summer. Over 23 games, he added four goals and fifteen assists for the Syracuse Crunch of the AHL.
Barré-Boulet has 12 goals and 6 assists in 70 games with the Lightning, Seattle Kraken, and Canadiens. The Canadiens are hoping he clears to make a big impact with the Laval Rocket. Barré-Boulet must be claimed by another NHL team by Monday at noon; failing that, he will report to Laval.
With a 2-1-0 record so far this season, the Canadiens will be back in action on Monday when they host the Pittsburgh Penguins at the Bell Centre (7:30 p.m., Prime, RDS). The Canadiens trained on Sunday morning at the CN Sports Complex in Brossard.
