A new report this morning confirms that a former Toronto Maple Leafs goalie prospect has joined their rival team, the Montreal Canadiens.

Goalie Luke Cavallin will sign a two-way AHL contract with the Laval Rocket, the Montreal Canadiens' AHL affiliate, according to a new post on X.
After playing for the Toronto Maple Leafs organization during the 2023-24 season, Luke Cavallin, a native of Swindon, England, is joining the Laval Rocket.
In the ECHL, Luke Cavallin played for the Newfoundland Growlers and the Toronto Marlies, totaling nine appearances each. Luke Cavallin had an average of 3.01 goals against in his nine AHL games, and 2.95 goals against and a 0.915 save percentage in the ECHL.
Luke Cavallin probably had little chance to advance because the Toronto Maple Leafs had a deep pool of goaltending prospects that included Dennis Hildeby, Artur Akhtyamov, and Vyacheslav Peska. He now has an opportunity to possibly earn AHL playing time with the Canadiens and Rocket. Luke Cavallin has plenty of time to mature into a reliable professional goaltender in a new environment at just 23 years old.
The AHL season is about to start, and it will be interesting to watch if Luke Cavallin gets a chance to play against his old team, the Toronto Marlies, and exact revenge on the team.
