Connor McDavid's injury fate has been clarified by NHL insider Frank Seravalli, who says the Oilers star will miss at least eight games.

Regarding superstar Connor McDavid's injury, the Edmonton Oilers and hockey fans around the world are eagerly awaiting an update. McDavid was forced out of the lineup for the rest of Monday's game after suffering what appeared to be a lower-body injury during his very first shift. Because McDavid is a vital member of the Oilers and his actual injury status is still unknown, there is a lot of conjecture among fans about how the incident will affect the team's performance.
Zach Werenski of the Jackets was called for tripping McDavid, who fell awkwardly and slammed his left skate against the boards. The Oilers suffered a 6-1 loss because McDavid did not return to the ice after his 37-second shift ended. Fans and analysts around the world were alarmed when the Oilers tweeted minutes after the incident that McDavid had suffered a lower-body injury.
Oilers head coach Kris Knoblauch stated after the game that McDavid would return to Edmonton for additional testing to assess the injury's severity. The remaining members of the team will play the Predators in Nashville next game to continue the four-game road trip. McDavid is unlikely to play in Thursday's game, as is probably to be expected, but given how demanding the Oilers' schedule is over the coming weeks, hopefully his absence from the starting lineup won't be too severe.
Hockey insider Frank Seravalli stated on Daily Faceoff LIVE that more imaging is necessary to verify the extent of McDavid's injury. Like the Florida Panthers' Aleksander Barkov, who eventually made his comeback after missing eight games, he might be out for several weeks if things don't get too bad. "This would be the best-case scenario," Seravalli said. According to an unnamed source cited by Oilersnation's Jason Gregor, the injury "isn't too serious," which, combined with the captain's apparent good mood, gives supporters and teammates cause for optimism.
«The first thing I think of is the Aleksander Barkov high ankle sprain from a few weeks back,» Seravalli said. «In a best-case scenario, just based on what I've heard in the early going, that seems like it would be the best outcome [for McDavid].»

After the game, Ryan Nugent-Hopkins, one of Connor McDavid's main linemates, talked about his frustrations. However, Nugent-Hopkins, a team leader and important veteran, asserts that when a player of McDavid's caliber is not in the lineup, the Oilers have the responsibility to step up. His remarks highlight the team's need to better care for its stars, which is a larger problem.
"Yeah, I mean of course. he's our leader, and also the best player in the game. Of course, you're going to feel it. We got to do a better job of stepping up when a guy like that goes down, though," Hopkins told via Oilersnation's Zach.
The focus is still on McDavid's recuperation as the Oilers enter a crucial stretch. It is hoped that he will return to the lineup fully and promptly, but as Frank Seravalli said, he may miss at most eight games.
