Travis Dermott, a former defenseman for the Toronto Maple Leafs and Vancouver Canucks, inked a deal with the Edmonton Oilers today.

Just few weeks ago defenceman Travis Dermott, 27, agreed to a professional tryout (PTO) with the Edmonton Oilers, giving him an opportunity to demonstrate his abilities before the start of the NHL season.
Now it's been revealed that the Oilers have signed Dermott to a one-year, two-way deal worth $775k.
Dermott signs a contract with the Oilers after playing in 50 games for the Arizona Coyotes in 2023-24, where he finished with two goals, five assists, and 26 penalty minutes. Despite his lackluster offensive performance in Arizona, Dermott demonstrated his strong defensive abilities. In those 50 games, he stopped 64 shots, which would have put him on pace to stop over 100 if he had participated in all 82 games.
In a really shocking interesting turn of events, The Oilers also re-claimed prospect Raphael Lavoie off waivers from the Golden Knights today.
Travis Dermott played 28 games in 2021-22 and 2022-23 with the Vancouver Canucks, recording two goals and one assist, before signing with Arizona.
Throughout his career, Dermott, 27, appeared in 329 NHL games for the Toronto Maple Leafs, Vancouver Canucks, and Arizona Coyotes. The Leafs selected him with the 34th overall pick in the 2015 draft.
Although Dermott's career was hampered by injuries, he soon established himself as an important member of the Maple Leafs blue line. With the exception of his most recent season with the Coyotes in 2021, he has only been able to participate in four seasons with 50 or more games.
