It did not take long for the Vegas Golden Knights to add to their NHL roster and then just as quickly release this young center to waivers.

It has been a pretty crazy couple of days for the young prospect drafted by the Edmonton Oilers. First, he was waived by the team that drafted him in 2019. Then after clearing waivers, gets picked up by the Golden Knights to just be released once again.
Raphael Lavoie who was drafted in the second round, 38th overall by the Oilers in 2019 has had a rocky start to his NHL year. Last year the center played 7 games of the Oilers but only recorded 2 penalty minutes playing in the NHL so far. Prior to, and during last season, Lavoie was playing on the AHL Bakersfield Condors where between 2020-2024 he played 202 games, recording 71 goals.
His best season with the Condors did come last year, scoring 28 goals and recording a total of 50 points. Friedman posted the waiver release by the Knights, and it came with much surprise, since he was shown to first make their roster, and then set to waivers.
SinBin.vegas just did a scouting report on Lavoie, touting the prospect, giving some analysis on their new young player.
Now, the talk is, will the Oilers look to get Lavoie back after he once again clears waivers? According to The Hockey Writers, Vegas was not expecting to be able to get both Levoie and Cole Schwindt, so it looks like they made their decision on who to keep for now.
More to come on the fate of Raphael Lavoie and what NHL team he may, or may not, get picked up by. We will wait and see if the Oilers are still interested in their former prospect.
