McDavid recently won the Conn Smythe Trophy after accumulating 42 points in the playoffs. His abdominal injury during the playoffs was disclosed during the Oilers' locker room clearout.
Given that wakeboarding demands significant abdominal strength, the videos of McDavid wakeboarding have led many to question the legitimacy of his injury. Fans are left wondering why the injury was mentioned at all if it wasn't genuine.

There is a silver lining in all of this. Whether McDavid's reported injury was genuine or not, Oilers fans can find solace in knowing that if he can wakeboard like a pro, he is likely to have another 100-point-plus season.
