After making significant signings this off-season, Brad Treliving and the Maple Leafs are now up against the cap, leading to three players being placed on the trade block.

After another disappointing playoff run, the Toronto Maple Leafs needed to make significant moves this off-season. On the first day of free agency, they were busy acquiring solid veterans. However, these acquisitions have pushed them up against the salary cap. With other teams having ample cap space, the potential moves the Leafs can make have become quite clear.
According to TSN's Chris Johnston, several Maple Leafs players have been placed on the trading block and could be traded at any time in the coming months:

"They would look at moving Kampf, Jarnkrok, or Timothy Liljegren in the right deal. I should be very clear, that is not to say they are trying to get rid of them at all costs, but I think that because of the Leafs' salary cap, they are pretty tight up against it," said Johnston on the latest edition of 'The CJ Show'. "Really, at this point of the off-season, their blueline looks different, [they] obviously made the move in net, but I think they will have to get creative to address any changes they want to make at forward."
He clarified that while these players are considered available, they aren't actively being shopped. However, if the right deal comes along that Treliving can't pass up, they would proceed with the trade.
"Those types of players could be had, but I don't have any reason to believe anything is close or will happen. Entering this offseason, they were open-minded about that. The reason those players have the contracts they do, they do provide a function. It's just, if they could upgrade by moving those players to create the cap room, I think they do so."

Following their first-round loss, the Maple Leafs have been aggressive in the free agent market. With opportunities to make impactful trades, expect Treliving to maintain this aggressive approach.
