All of a sudden, the city of Detroit has one playoff team to cheer for, and now, it's going to change the time of the Red Wings home opener against Pittsburgh.

During the pre-season, the NHL had to ultimately postpone a matchup between the Pittsburgh Penguins and the Detroit Red Wings, as the Penguins were experiencing issues with their plane that stopped their travel to Detroit. Now, another change has been made to a matchup between these two teams, as the NHL have officially announced a time change to the Red Wings home opener, the second game of the Penguins season after a clash with the New York Rangers.
The change is simply pushing the game an hour back, as the Detroit Tigers begin Game 4 of a postseason series with the Cleveland Guardians just after 6PM, so now, the schedule clash between the Red Wings and Penguins will be moved back to 8PM from the original 7PM time slot.
After an off-season that saw them make plenty of moves, the Pittsburgh Penguins will head into this matchup full of confidence, with their finalized roster showing a great blend of youth and experience as they look to end a two-year playoff drought, the longest during the impressive tenure of Sidney Crosby. This game will come after their home opener against the New York Rangers, in what should be a fantastic Metropolitan Division battle, but things don't get easier for Crosby and co., as they finish their first road trip of the year with games in Toronto and Montreal.
Both of these teams have very high hopes this season, and with a highly anticipated matchup on Thursday night, they'll bring everything they've got in a game that will have the city of Detroit buzzing alongside the surprising Tigers.
