The Chicago Blackhawks are in desperate need of young talent around Connor Bedard, and now Elliotte Friedman has identified Morgan Frost as a top target.

After a dreadful start to the season, there are fears around the NHL already that the Chicago Blackhawks will waste the prime of Connor Bedard, as the lack of talent is clearly effecting his play this season.
With immense salary cap space and plenty of draft picks however, they have the opportunity to add some talent around him, with top NHL Insider Elliotte Friedman identifying one possible target to play alongside their 19-year old star.
«Player-team that seem a match: Morgan Frost and Chicago. Frost didn't play Wednesday against Carolina, the fourth game of the last five he's watched from the press box. He's not a complainer, prefers to keep any displeasure behind closed doors, but players want to play. Obviously, any dance needs partners who deal, but the Blackhawks, in dire need of centres, are one team that makes sense for him.»
The trade speculation around Frost has been very clear over the last two years, and after posting totals of 46 and 41 over the past two years at just 25-years of age, it's clear that he has the potential to be a solid second line centre or winger at the NHL level.
As for Bedard, he has just three goals and 12 assists through 20 games this season, and while that's great for most players, it's a clear step back after the promise he showed last season, with the team clearly needing help around him.
Whether or not that's Frost, a top pick in the 2025 NHL Draft that's ready to play in the league or a veteran on the free agent market over the off-season, the team need to make a change to at least give Bedard some talent around him, so expect them to be involved in many rumours this season.
