Elliotte Friedman hints at Jake Guentzel possibly joining the Chicago Blackhawks alongside Calder Trophy winner Connor Bedard.

Guentzel, a two time NHL All Star was traded to the Hurricanes from the Pittsburgh Penguins after spending eight seasons playing alongside Sidney Crosby and Evgeni Malkin, clinching the Stanley Cup in 2018.
In a total of 67 games played for both Carolina and Pittsburgh, Guentzel recorded 30 goals, 47 assists and 77 points. During the playoffs with the Hurricanes, he scored 4 goals and provided 5 assists totaling to 9 points in 11 games. Unfortunately Carolina was eliminated by the New York Rangers in six games during the second round after defeating the Islanders in the first round.
Guentzel's offensive performance would have topped the Blackhawks charts in goals, assists and points if he were to join them. Bedard would secure place in all categories (also tied with Jason Dickinson for goals at 22).
The details of Guentzel's contract expectations remain unclear. According to The Athletics projection model, Guentzel could potentially command a seven year deal worth $9.6 million per season. At age 29 and after proving his value with Pittsburgh, he likely seeks a solid contract as one of the options available, on the market.
Guentzel, who was selected 77th overall in the 2014 NHL Entry Draft, by Pittsburgh has scored a total of 227 goals made 264 assists and accumulated 491 points in his career, spanning 520 games with the Penguins and Hurricanes.
