John Gibson has been a hot name on the goaltending market, and now a top contender in the East has been linked to a blockbuster trade.

For the past few seasons now, John Gibson's name has continually been around trade talks, but without someone to take the No. 1 role from him (and a tough contract situation for opposing teams to take on), a deal just hasn't come to fruition.
Now, with Lukas Dostal leading the way, the Ducks have found their future net minder, and it appears that trade speculation is going to continue, with the latest 32 Thoughts seeing discussions about Gibson's future.
It appears as though Elliotte Friedman believes the Carolina Hurricanes to be a genuine landing spot for Gibson, as the team have already lost two goaltenders to injury this season and could use a star to replace them as they look to finally make a push in the Eastern Conference.
In nine games played this season, Gibson has posted a solid 2.90 GAA alongside a .906 save percentage, and with Dostal shouldering most of the load as the No. 1 option, it makes sense now more than ever for the Ducks to move Gibson.
Over his career, Gibson holds a 2.90 GAA and a .910 save percentage, meaning that he's long been one of the league's most consistent goaltenders, and if he can continue proving that as this season rolls along, there should be more than one team interested in his services.
However, with the goaltender market not as hot as it once was, the Hurricanes and other goaltender needy teams can afford to be patient, so if the Duck finally want to move Gibson, they'll need to make a push to the Hurricanes and other teams to take him and his contract on.
