NHL insider Elliotte Friedman has revealed on his 32 Thoughts podcast that Stan Bowman and the Oilers are going to be making some more roster moves.

The Oilers claimed
Alec Regula, a right-shot defenseman, off of waivers from the Boston Bruins, adding another piece to what is already a crowded depth chart on the right side.
Their LHD depth, on the other hand, is decidedly thinner, with Cam Dineen being the lone left-shot option in the AHL.
It's less obvious where Regula fits within the roster, though. The 24-year-old native of Michigan has little experience in the NHL and projects best as a depth option likely ticketed for a third pairing if he makes the roster.
The addition of course begs some questions regarding how Edmonton plans to fix their blue line, especially off that disappointingly poor start from frequent healthy scratch
Travis Dermott.
Now that Travis
Dermott was placed on waivers, should he be claimed by another team, the Oilers would be going very lean with just six NHL defenders, which may open up an opportunity for Regula.
Friedman seemed to indicate the Oilers realize a few people going out the back door is necessary. The Regula signing could be just the beginning, especially to balance out the left side of the organizational depth chart.
While Regula might not make much difference in the immediate future, he certainly gives Edmonton a depth addition that can chip in if needed.
One way or another, sticking with this latest addition or making a more significant one, the juggling of the ice time up on the blueline is far from over.
