According to multiple reports the Predators and Avalanche have agreed to a swap of players and draft picks.
The Predators will be sending Juuso Pärssinen and a 7th-round pick to the Colorado Avalanche and in exchange will receive Ondrej Pavel and a 3rd-round pick.
Going back to the 2022-23 season Parssinen was expected to be a major part of the next era of Predators hockey after putting up 25 points in 45 games as a rookie in the NHL.
Sadly for him and the Preds Parssinen struggled to repeat that success and over the last 2 seasons has had just 17 points in 59 NHL games.
He is considered a good skating and physical presence but has struggled mightily to contribute outside of that with the Predators for the majority of his career.
At just 23 years old he will now be sent to the Colorado Avalanche and get a fresh start and try to carve out a role on a Stanley Cup contending team.
The Avalanche have been looking for a player to boost their middle-six for much of the season as several players outside of Nathan MacKinnon and Mikko Rantanen have struggled to step up.
In return, the Predators will receive 24-year-old forward Ondrej Pavel who has spent the last 2 seasons working his way up through the Avalanche's system.
It seems that this trade overall is one to give a new start to a pair of young players looking to get their NHL careers off the ground.
As the season continues it will be fun to see if Parssinen or Pavel will have more success creating an opportunity for themselves in their new home.
