Latest addition coming to Tampa! ⚡️
We have acquired forward Jake Guentzel from the Carolina Hurricanes in exchange for a third-round pick in the 2025 NHL Draft.
Then tonight NHL insider Pierre LeBrun shared that Guentzel would be signing a seven-year contract with the Lightning.
Still not finalized, but all signs point to Tampa getting Jake Guentzel signed to a 7-year deal. I would expect an announcement sometime tomorrow before the market opens. The Bolts weren't going to trade for his rights without feeling good about their chances to get him signed.
After his move from the Pittsburgh Penguins to the Carolina Hurricanes, Guentzel tallied 25 points in 17 games.
Now, he joins forces with Brayden Point and Nikita Kucherov to form a formidable forward trio. Additionally, he steps in to fill the void left by Steven Stamkos, whom the Lightning are allowing to enter free agency.
