It seems that the Calgary Flames and Carolina Hurricanes are nearing a trade this summer, according to insider reports suggesting a potential deal between the two teams.
Teams have been active this off-season, making trades during the draft and signing free agents. However, the Hurricanes and Flames seemed to have missed the memo, remaining unusually quiet. According to an insider, that could change very soon.

Eric Duhatschek of The Athletic has proposed a trade involving the Hurricanes sending Jesperi Kotkaniemi to the Flames, amid indications that his tenure in Carolina hasn't unfolded as expected since his acquisition via an offer sheet from the Montreal Canadiens a few years ago.
Eric Tulsky's first move as the general manager and it's a great deal. Time to sign Guentzel, Jarvis, Skjei/Pesce, Martinook among many others. Necas, Kotkaniemi and Freddie Anderson probably getting dealt. Time will tell
A deal is on the table, though it remains unclear what the Hurricanes would seek in return for Kotkaniemi. However, the Flames are clearly open for business, with a substantial $22 million in cap space to work with.
