Chaos erupted in game 2 of the Stanley Cup Finals, following a hefty hit by Dmitry Kulikov on Oilers' Sam Carrick, leading to a retaliatory slash in a sensitive area.

The Florida Panthers aimed to maintain the intensity from Game 1 into Game 2 to assert control over the Stanley Cup Finals. As part of this strategy, defenseman Dmitry Kulikov delivered a crushing hit on Sam Carrick. Shortly after, Carrick sought retribution with a slash aimed between Kulikov's legs.

The altercation resulted in penalties being issued and both players being separated. While Kulikov avoided a penalty, Carrick received a two-minute penalty for slashing and a 10-minute misconduct for unsportsmanlike conduct. The Panthers ultimately secured a 4-1 victory.
The series now shifts to Edmonton, with the Oilers urgently needing a win to stay competitive. Another loss could spell the end of their Stanley Cup aspirations for 2024.
UPDATE
Edmonton's Sam Carrick has been fined $2,213.54, the maximum allowable under the CBA, for slashing Florida's Dmitry Kulikov.
