Florida Panthers captain Aleksander Barkov was injured by an Edmonton Oilers' hit from Leon Draisaitl last night. Today, Panthers head coach Paul Maurice offered an update.

Despite holding a 2-0 series lead in the Stanley Cup Finals, attention has shifted to Barkov's condition after the incident in Game 2. Draisaitl's hit, which resulted in a two-minute penalty on the ice, has raised concerns, although it's unlikely he'll face further punishment.
Following a review, Leon Draisaitl was assessed a two-minute minor for roughing in the play.
Barkov's injury status has remained undisclosed since his departure from the game. However, this morning, head coach Paul Maurice offered some reassurance, stating that the situation could have been worse and Barkov may have a chance to participate in Game 3.
Maurice commented on Barkov's status: "He wasn't worse, so that's a really good thing. The real assessment will be tomorrow."
He expressed optimism, indicating that if Barkov continues to progress positively, they should be in "good shape."
Following Maurice's update, speculation has emerged. One source suggests that Barkov may be contending with a concussion, a challenging injury to predict a recovery timeline for.
Playing doctor here:
By this, we can assume it's not a broken jaw for Barkov. That WOULD be worse swollen, sore, the next day.
So most likely a concussion issue. Which we all know is impossible to predict.
IMO, only way Draisaitl is suspended is if Barkov out. Doesn't sound out
As we await further developments in Aleksander Barkov's recovery process, he will likely have an opportunity to participate in practice before the next game. This will serve as a significant indicator of his potential to return to play.
We will continue to provide updates on Aleksander Barkov's health as they become available.
