The NHL's waiver wire has been red-hot with activity as of late, with veteran centre Devin Shore officially clearing waivers after being placed there by the Minnesota Wild in recent days.
Now, we have two more veteran names on waivers on Tuesday, with Elliotte Friedman reporting that Colorado's Chris Wagner and New Jersey's Justin Dowling have both been waived by their respective teams.
Wagner is a 33-year old veteran that came to Colorado a year ago, and after signing a one-year extension in the off-season, he's now been placed on waivers, with the team looking to give themselves some roster flexibility heading into the holidays.
He may have just 1 point through 22 games this season, but Wagner brings plenty of veteran leadership to a team that's needed all the depth they can get up front this year, with the team praying that he passes through waivers.
Dowling is a 34-year old centre that has been with the Devils organization since last season, and with 2 goals and 3 points in 21 games played this season, he's a perfect fit for the team's fourth line.
This move comes as a result of Curtis Lazar's return from IR, with the team aiming to reassign Dowling to the AHL to give them further depth throughout the season, one which they hope will end with the Stanley Cup.
While there may be some interest in both players around the league, at this point it appears both teams are confident their players will pass through waivers, and with both teams looking for deep runs through the Stanley Cup Playoffs this season, expect to see both players back on the fourth line at some point if that is the case.
