After Potocka completed her 200-meter individual medley at the Paris Olympic Games, it was evident to other swimmers that she was in distress on the poolside.

Upon exiting the water, Potocka, just 21 years old, collapsed and was rushed to a hospital as shocked Paris Olympic fans looked on.
Competing against Canadian swimmer Summer McIntosh, Potocka finished in 7th place. According to TVA Sports, she «fell like a rock.»
Ivana Lange, the Slovakian team leader, reported by UPI News, stated that Potocka has asthma.
"Tamara has asthma," Slovakia's team leader, Ivana Lange, said in a statement. "This whole combination of nervous and physical tension while she did not have her inhaler immediately available to use contributed to the creation of this problem.

"She received oxygen and necessary medication; her condition is constantly monitored. A few minutes ago, the doctor told me that she must be monitored for several more hours."

Potocka was seen struggling in the pool, appearing to have trouble breathing.
Swimmer Tamara Potocka was seen sitting poolside for a few seconds in clear distress, even as swimmers lined up for the next heat.

Organisers realised something was wrong and postponed the next swim as medical staff descended on the scene.
In some positive news, she has been able to communicate since the incident.
The Slovakian Olympic team has confirmed to

that the cause of the collapse was an asthma attack. She has since been given oxygen therapy and during the procedure has communicated.
We wish her the best and look forward to updates on her condition.
