The 43-year-old, Sean Higgins accused of killing Johnny and Matthew Gaudreau in a drunk driving accident, made an appearance in a New Jersey courtroom Thursday.

Higgins, who had previously been seen wearing an anti-suicide smock, now donned a standard orange jumpsuit and sported a thick goatee. Sean Higgins appeared virtually in court today, but his sentencing was once again delayed, forcing him to return next week.

Sean Higgins accused of vehicular homicide in tragic Gaudreau deaths

Higgins has been charged with two counts of vehicular homicide following the August 29th accident in which he allegedly hit the Gaudreau brothers while they were riding their bicycles on a rural road in Salem County, New Jersey. He admitted to having consumed "5-6 beers" before the crash, which left the hockey world in shock. If convicted, Higgins faces up to 40 years behind bars.

The court hearing, which was meant to determine his pretrial conditions, lasted only a few moments before being rescheduled. Until then, Higgins will remain incarcerated, with his next court appearance set for September 13th.

This marks the second time Higgins has appeared before the court since the tragic accident, where he is reported to have shown little to no remorse for his actions.

As the legal proceedings continue, the hockey community mourns the loss of Johnny and Matthew Gaudreau. Fans and teammates from both the Calgary Flames and Columbus Blue Jackets gathered for candlelight vigils to honor their memories. The Gaudreau brothers' impact on and off the ice remains vivid, as supporters pay tribute to their legacy.

Sean Higgins' court case remains under scrutiny as the community awaits justice for the devastating loss of two beloved figures in the hockey world.
