Paraguay swimmer Luana Alonso has been expelled from the Olympic village in Paris after facing allegations of creating a negative and inappropriate environment.

Luana Alonso, who was competing in the Olympics, had been living among fellow athletes in the village, where competitors socialize, dine, and train together.
On Sunday, Larissa Schaerer, the general manager of the Paraguayan Olympic Committee, released a statement condemning Alonso's impact on the team. According to Schaerer, Alonso's presence was causing a detrimental effect on the rest of the athletes. Upset by these remarks, Alonso requested permission to leave the village, which was promptly granted by Schaerer.
"Her presence is creating an inappropriate atmosphere within Team Paraguay.

'We thank her for proceeding as instructed, as it was of her own free will that she did not spend the night in the Athletes' Village."

Alonso packed her bags and departed the village, but her absence was short-lived. She returned the following day, seemingly enjoying what appeared to be a vacation-like experience in Paris. This unexpected return baffled Schaerer, who subsequently told Alonso to "get lost."

Olympics swimmer Luana Alonso has been REMOVED from the athletes village for creating an 'inappropriate environment' 😳

Luana Alonso's Olympic performance and retirement announcement

Despite the off-field drama, Alonso's performance in the competition did not meet expectations. She finished 6th in the 100m butterfly and failed to advance to the semi-finals. Following her underwhelming results, Alonso made a surprising announcement on social media, declaring her retirement from competitive swimming.
It's official now! I'm retiring from swimming, thank you all so much for the support! Sorry Paraguay ♥️ I only have to thank you!
Translated to English

Her message was heartfelt, expressing gratitude to her supporters and apologizing to Paraguay.
Alonso's return to Paris after her brief departure raises questions about her intentions, as she appears to be using the remainder of her time in the city as a vacation.
Her dramatic exit and subsequent behavior have been the subject of much discussion, leaving her Olympic journey marked by controversy rather than athletic success.
Larissa Schaerer's statement did not elaborate on the specifics of Alonso's inappropriate behavior.
