Well-known Canadian hockey personality Don Cherry has declared that he will be making a comeback to cover the NHL in 2024-25.

Cherry made the announcement on X, revealing that he will be launching a second season of his podcast, "The Don Cherry Podcast," in the upcoming weeks. He then invited questions from the audience, some of which he will probably address in the upcoming episode.
Cherry, who is 90 years old, had a significant role in the hockey media for many years because of his Coach's Corner segment with Ron MacLean on Hockey Night in Canada. Cherry's on-air offensive remarks, however, brought controversy and an end to his television career.
It appears from his announcement that he will concentrate on the Boston Bruins, Toronto Maple Leafs, and Montreal Canadiens-three of the original six teams in the East.
Naturally, fans are curious as to when Ron MacLean will appear, given that it seemed that their relationship deteriorated following Cherry's exit. Before MacLean's birthday visit to Cherry last year, the two had been apart for years. It doesn't appear that the two will ever get back together for another show at this time.
After making remarks about how few immigrants wore poppies on Remembrance Day, which he has since repeated several times, Cherry was taken off the air by CBC and Sportsnet in November 2019.
However, Cherry's coworkers of the former CBC and Sportsnet host have been supporting him grieve since daughter Cindy unexpectedly passed away earlier this summer at the age of 67.
«Many are trying to help him get there, including his old Coach's Corner sidekick, Ron MacLean, who recently brought over Tim Hortons coffee. They talked for an hour, which is important since the duo's very public breakup on a Saturday night in 2019 still hurts [Cherry] and his fans,» Warmington wrote.
Still, it will be intriguing to hear from a legendary person like Cherry about the current status of hockey. It may not be well-reasoned, current, or informed, but it will undoubtedly be engaging.
