Tonight's Tkachuk Cup matchup between Ottawa Senators captain Brady and his Florida Panthers and reigning Stanley Cup champion brother Matthew, was overshadowed by a much bigger concern.
That's the potential injury to Cats captain and reigning Selke Trophy winner Alexander Sasha Barkov. The Sens may have won 3-1, but the real Florida worry is what happened to Barkov late in the game.
In the final moments, after breaking his stick, Barkov chased a puck toward the empty net. He collided with Tim Stutzle and went crashing feet-first into the boards.
It was a bad sight-he had to be helped off the ice, unable to put any weight on his right leg.
Watching him shake his head as he tested it was tough, and though we don't know the severity yet, it didn't look promising.
Hopefully it's not as serious as it looked, but we can't overlook the fact that Ottawa played a great opener. Linus Ullmark outplayed Sergei Bobrovsky with 30 saves, and Stutzle scored twice, with a Shane Pinto goal in between.
Gustav Forsling gave the visitors some hope, making it 2-1 in the second, but they couldn't get the equalizer past Ullmark. Now, all eyes are on Barkov and hoping for some good news.
