According to reports this afternoon a tragic loss has hit the Polish hockey community after Andrzej Hachula passed away at the age of 64.
Andrzej Hachula was a staple of hockey in Poland and Germany throughout much of the 1970s and 1980s.
Growing up in Poland Andrzej Hachula started his love for hockey at an early age and became a young star in the country representing Poland at the U20 level.
He represented his country at the B pool world championships before the age of 20.
Eventually, he would begin his professional career with Naprzod Janow in Poland. He would spend 6 seasons there before moving to two other Polish clubs.
After finishing his time in Poland Andrzej Hachula would make the jump to Germany in 1990 playing for REV Bremerhaven in the German second and third divisions.
During one season while playing in Germany, Andrzej Hachula racked up an astounding 100 points in 45 games in German tier 3 with REV Bremerhaven.
Likely Andrzej Hachula's biggest accomplishment in his career was being able to represent Poland at the Winter Olympic Games during the 1984 Sarajevo Olympics.
During those Olympic Games, he did his country well and placed fourth in their group of six teams going up against hockey powerhouses like Sweden and the Soviet Union.
We wish Andrzej Hachula's family and the Polish hockey community all the best as they continue to grieve such an unimaginable loss.
