After Scary Injury, QMJHL Star Justin Blais Delivers Heartfelt Message to Fans
After suffering injuries in a terrifying on-ice incident, Justin Blais, a forward for the Gatineau Olympiques, posted a message to his fans on social media.
Justin Blais had to leave the ice on a stretcher following a frightening injury sustained during a scrum between the Gatineau Olympiques and the Baie-Comeau Drakkar during a Quebec Maritimes Junior Hockey League game.
Journalist Mikael Lalancette reported that Blais collapsed onto the ice headfirst and started to convulse. He left the game on a stretcher after receiving help from the medical unit. The referees sent all players to their locker rooms as the game came to an end with just two minutes remaining in the third period and an 8-2 score.
Blais was taken to the hospital following the game last night, and as of right now, there have been no updates regarding his condition.
His team thanked all of the fans for their kind words and shared a photo of him in the hospital along with a message:
"With his consent, Justin Blais wanted to thank our fans and everyone in the QMJHL for the kind words. ❤️"
The player will be eligible to enter the NHL Draft in 2026. The 17-year-old defenseman will have to overcome this obstacle and take all the necessary steps to get back on the ice and support his team if he chooses to pursue a career in professional hockey.
He recorded 14 penalty minutes, two points, and a -6 goal differential in 12 games this season against a struggling team that is currently dead last in the QMJHL standings with a 2-13-1 record.
