Don Cherry has long been a polarizing figure in the hockey community. Today the residents of Mortlach Saskatchewan expressed their admiration for him by revealing a statue honouring the Hockey Night in Canada host.

The statue portrays Cherry wearing a red plaid jacket, reflecting his penchant for fashion statements on television. Standing at 15 feet tall, Cherry is depicted with arms gesturing his signature finger gun with his hands, while his dog sits beside him by his left leg.
WARMINGTON: Grapes in the spotlight again, John A. Macdonald next?
The public reaction to the unveiling of the statue has been mixed as expected. Cherrys involvement in discourse has fueled debates and divided opinions among Canadians. One individual shared a meme from The Simpsons depicting characters sawing off a statues head in response to the Cherry statue.
Me when I find this
Some individuals praised the statue as a tribute to a figure, in hockey and Canadian history. Those who share Cherrys perspective on the world, may view the statue as a tribute to the host of Hockey Night in Canada.
I absolutely love this and I hope all the lefty weirdos in Canada cry themselves to sleep tonight. Haha! Long live Don Cherry. A Canadian legend and icon. This is perfect. 🍇 🍒 🍒🍒🍒🍒🍒🍒🍒🍒🍒🍒🍒🍒🍒🍒
