This season has been off to a very strong start for the Winnipeg Jets, and although they sit atop the Central Division at this point, they've still got one glaring weakness on this roster.
That weakness is the lack of star power and success on their blue line, with the team struggling for consistent production beyond star first pairing defenseman Josh Morrisey.
While they've already been linked to some huge upgrades, David Pagnotta of The Fourth Period has revealed another name they could be connected too in the form of two-time Stanley Cup Champion Brian Dumoulin.
The 33-year old was a part of the Pittsburgh Penguins back-to-back Stanley Cup's in the late 2010's, and while he's never been a star that puts up huge numbers, he could bring the experience and the stability to this Jets blue line that it sorely needs.
In 39 games with the Ducks this season, Dumoulin has tallied 8 assists and a +2 differential, so while most Jets fans will be hoping General Manager Kevin Cheveldayoff shoots a little higher for the likes of Rasmus Andersson, Dumoulin could be a solid, cheap pickup for the team.
According to Pagnotta though, there's plenty of interest in Dumoulin around the league, and after the Ducks moved Cam Fowler early in the year, it's clear that they are ready to continue moving out their veterans, so if Winnipeg don't want to spend the assets they did at the deadline a year ago, keep a close eye on Dumoulin over the next few months.
