The Winnipeg Jets are one of the top teams in the NHL, and they may have recently figured out their center position, per NHL insider Darren Dreger.

Like most NHL contenders, the Winnipeg Jets will be searching for center options leading up to the trade deadline.

But according to TSN's Darren Dreger, a solution might just come from within.

Adam Lowry could be the solution for the Jets

Captain Adam Lowry has been shining since moving into the second-line center role. In his 11th season, Lowry is having a career year with 10 goals, 25 points, and a +15 rating.

He is on pace for career-best totals of 18 goals and 45 points, and his 6'5", 210-pound frame normally anchors the third line, but he has found success higher up in the lineup.

With this, Dreger suggests Winnipeg's trade decisions might get a little simpler.

Also in search of center depth are the Boston Bruins, Toronto Maple Leafs, Washington Capitals, New Jersey Devils, Colorado Avalanche, and Minnesota Wild, so it could open up some options for the Jets in trade discussions.

While many contenders also need top-four defensemen, the emergence of Lowry could change Winnipeg's focus in some respects, particularly with the injury to Vladislav Namestnikov.

"Because of an injury to (Vladislav) Namestnikov, they've had to alter their lines, and that means captain Adam Lowry has been thrown into the second line center spot, and... They really like what they see. The size is there, the physicality, the hockey IQ, he can do so many good things."

Dreger points out that perhaps the Jets can now shift their focus to the best forward available, as opposed to only zeroing in on centermen.

"If this continues up to the deadline Maybe this allows (GM) Kevin Cheveldayoff to take a more versatile approach, and instead of looking specifically for a center, maybe just grab the best center available at that point".

- Darren Dreger

Either way, we are in for a wild finish to the trade deadline over the coming weeks.
