The Winnipeg Jets are one of the teams looking for a major upgrade this season, with adding a star to the blue line seemingly their top priority according to recent speculation.
Now, they've been linked to another intriguing name, with TSN's Pierre LeBrun speculating that the team could look into acquiring Rasmus Ristolainen of the Philadelphia Flyers.
With Josh Morrisey, Dylan Demelo and Neal Pionk leading the way for this team on the blue line, there's a serious need of an upgrade beyond them, with Ristolainen presenting perhaps the perfect second pairing player to add to the Jets.
It's unclear at this point just how motivated Philadelphia are to move Ristolainen, but with a salary cap hit of $5.1 million a year over the next two years, it's safe to say that unless they're in a spot to push for the Stanley Cup Playoffs, it's a move that makes sense.
With just 8 points in 35 games played this year, the production certainly hasn't matched that contract, but given his history and his relatively young age, Winnipeg aren't the only team that will be interested.
Ultimately, Ristolainen is better off beyond Philadelphia, as he's a player that could play a crucial second-pair role on a contending team, and with the Flyers potentially looking to add a young player that could help them for years to come, dealing the 30-year old right now would be the best move for both parties.
