A potential trade between the Winnipeg Jets and the New York Rangers is causing excitement among Blueshirts supporters.

Both teams appear to be hoping to strengthen their rosters in order to have a chance at winning the Stanley Cup, and they both want to make a deep playoff run.
According to trade rumours, the New York Rangers might be interested in Winnipeg Jets forward Nikolaj Ehlers and the Manitoba boys are looking for a young gun in return.
Since last July, when discussions about a contract extension with the Jets came to an impasse, Ehlers has been linked to trades as he approaches the last year of his current agreement.
He scored 61 points and 25 goals in 82 games the previous season. He has a 10-team no-trade clause and was signed for $6 million AAV this season, so he's not exactly cheap.
The Rangers would only be eligible if they weren't listed there. Why would they, though, considering that they are the current Presidents Trophy winners and Cup contenders?
Kappo Kakko, the Rangers' second-round selection in 2019, hasn't lived up to expectations. The Finnish winger is still only 23 years old, so his long-term future with the team is uncertain given his meager 19 points in 61 games the previous campaign.
Although the Rangers did re-sign him for a one-year extension, many believe that his inconsistent play makes him a potential trade chip for Ehlers come March 31st.
Although Kakko wouldn't be the only player Winnipeg wants back, he would be the star of the massive deal that New York general manager Chris Drury and Jets owner Kevin Cheveldayoff would make. Is Ehlers the piece the Rangers are missing to climb the mountain? We'll find out in time.
