The Boston Bruins have claimed a goaltender off waivers from the Canucks as they are currently involved in a contentious negotiation with Jeremy Swayman.

The Boston Bruins have so much drama surrounding them that fans follow every move the team makes, no matter how small. Now, the team has scared fans away by claiming a young goaltender off waivers.
The Vancouver Canucks may have assisted the Bruins with their dilemma. Jiri Patera, the recently signed netminder, was among the four veterans that Patrik Allvin placed on waivers in order to be assigned to Abbotsford.
The Bruins have now claimed Patera off waivers according to NHL insider Chris Johnston, who was first to break the news.
Jiri Patera, 25-year-old goaltender who signed with the Vancouver Canucks this summer, was the only player placed on waivers yesterday that was claimed, according to prominent NHL Insider Elliotte Friedman.
Following his 2022-2023 NHL debut with the Vegas Golden Knights, Patera played in two more games last season, amassing a 3.57 GAA and a.902 save percentage as a former sixth-round draft pick. Patera recorded a strong 2.99 GAA and a.903 save percentage in 25 games with the Henderson Silver Knights the previous season. The Bruins have some good goaltending depth, but Patera will be a valuable backup should something go wrong.
The Boston Bruins' regular season is just one week away, and it appears likely that they will start the season without Jeremy Swayman on the roster. While Joonas Korpisalo and Brandon Bussi are the favorites to start in goal, Patera is a good, affordable depth option for a team that might be without their top goalie for an extended period of time.
Fans of the Bruins should keep an eye on this story, regardless of whether he chooses to start the season in the AHL or battle with Bussi for the backup spot.
