Vegas Golden Knights Send Rising Star Goal-Scorer to Henderson Silver Knights
Young forward Brendan Brisson was sent from the Vegas Golden Knights to the Henderson Silver Knights.
The Vegas Golden Knights have made a late night announcement, they have reassigned young forward Brendan Brisson to the AHL.
The 23-year-old, who grew up in Manhattan Beach, once played inside what was known as Staples Center when he was eight years old. Last night, he finally had the opportunity to play as a professional in Los Angeles as the Golden Knights continued their four-game winning streak.
"Obviously, real excited," Brisson said. "Never played in Crypto. Or, it's not Crypto to me - it's Staples. I played there actually when I was younger, like when I was 8. But yeah, just growing up, going to those Kings games, it was always awesome. And yeah, I mean, a dream come true."
There's no question about it, it's definitely the best organization in the league. I'm not just saying that because I'm here. But you look at all the success and all the moves and everything that comes behind the organization is first class. From the trainers to the teammates to the coaches, you know everyone, the fans. They all have a huge role in what makes it an unbelievable organization. It's fun to come in every single day. I remember, even when I was back in college after I got drafted, Will Nichol, shout out to Will Nichol, he'd come out to a lot of the games. He works with the prospects, so he'd come to games. And then when I decided to sign, spend some time in Henderson, and just how hands on they were with my development. They really taught me since I came in what it's like to be a pro, and what's the everyday expectations with being in the Golden Knights organization. So I definitely grew up a lot off the ice, and on the ice I like where my game has been trending. So it's been a blessing to be here. Yeah, I'm excited to be Golden Knight.
Coach Bruce Cassidy gave him the opportunity to perform in front of his home crowd against the Los Angeles Kings.
Despite playing seven games this season, the 23-year-old forward has not yet earned a point. As several forwards left the team this offseason, expectations for the young forward increased. Brisson had a genuine chance to perform well and land a role with the Golden Knights, but he hasn't taken advantage of it yet.
During the 2023-24 season, Brisson participated in 52 games for the Silver Knights, scoring 19 goals and 38 points. Brisson should be the center of the Silver Knights' offense because of his NHL experience and skill set.
The Golden Knights hoped that his ability to shoot the puck off a one-timer or once when he has time in space would translate to the NHL, but at this point in his development, it is best for him to grow in the AHL.
