The Vegas Golden Knights signed defenseman Shea Theodore to a seven-year contract extension through the 2031-2032 season, valued at an average of $7,425,000 per year, the team announced today, October 24, according to general manager Kelly McCrimmon.
With seven points (1 G, 6 A) in six games this season, Theodore, 29, who is in his eighth season with the Golden Knights, leads the team's defensemen. As of the start of the 2024-25 season, Theodore has seven points, which puts him fourth among NHL defensemen in scoring. The Aldergrove, British Columbia native set a new career high last year. He finished with 42 points (5 G, 37 A) in 47 games, good for seventh place among all NHL defensemen with an average of 89 points per game played.
With 296 points (67 G, 229 A) in 450 games and a +65 rating during his tenure as a Golden Knight, which started in October of the first season of 2017-18, Theodore leads the team in scoring among defensemen.
The blueliner has also appeared in a total of 114 games during the Stanley Cup Playoffs and helped Vegas lift the Stanley Cup in 2023. Theodore finished second among NHL defensemen in scoring during the 2023 playoffs, scoring 13 points (1 G, 12 A) during the team's historic run.
