Vegas Golden Knights goalie Robin Lehner has released a statement about his unanticipated absence to start the season after not reporting to training camp.

Due to multiple health issues, including a hip injury, Robin Lehner has not played hockey since the 2021-2022 season. The Vegas Golden Knights declared earlier this week that Lehner would not play for them this season due to his non-attendance at training camp.
Lehner is finally talking about his unusual situation for the first time since that announcement, though he didn't really elaborate on the enigmatic reasons for his absence. Indeed, it appeared from Lehner's words that he might not even be permitted to talk about the specifics of his absence.
Robin Lehner discussed his future in the NHL in a recent Sportsnet article. According to Robin Lehner's statement, he has explained to everyone concerned why he is not at training camp while he waits for matters to be resolved.
"All I can say at this time is everyone knows why I couldn't be there. I am waiting calmly for things to be sorted out," said Lehner as per Sin Bin Vegas.
The comments made by Kelly McCrimmon, general manager of the Vegas Golden Knights, and Robin Lehner differ significantly. The Golden Knights stated that Robin Lehner was not healthy enough to play, but they also gave the impression that he would not be showing up for training camp.
(Robin) not be reporting to the club this year, Vegas GM Kelly McCrimmon said Thursday. He continues to be unfit to play. There are unique circumstances surrounding this situation that the NHL, the NHLPA and (Vegas) are working through. Collectively, we are assessing our next steps, and when we have more to say, we will.
Multiple sources claim that everyone involved was aware that Lehner would not be present. According to those same sources, a solution is being developed by Vegas, the NHLPA, and the NHL.
However, it's reasonable for fans to feel let down, considering Lehner's pivotal role in the Golden Knights' lineup historically. In his last active season (2021-22), Lehner maintained a 2.83 goals against average and a .907 save percentage across 44 regular season appearances.
Since the NHL, NHLPA, or Golden Knights organization have not yet released an official statement, it is currently unknown what this means for Lehner's contract status or the Golden Knights' salary cap situation.
Stay tuned as we continue to update you with this case.
