Today Ryan Smith, the owner of the Utah Hockey Club shared some news by hinting that the team is nearing a decision on their name.

During an appearance on The Pat McAfee Show, Smith mentioned that they have narrowed down their options to four potential names. While he didn't disclose all four choices he did reveal that two of them are the Utah Mammoth and the Utah Yeti. Speculation arises whether these two names are leading contenders among the selection. It would be quite surprising if Smith teased these names only to pick something different for the grand reveal.
NHL Utah owner Ryan Smith made an impromptu appearance on The Pat McAfee Show today, and gave a bit of a sneak peek on a couple of the finalists for the team name. 👀

«We've got our four; think Mammoth is up there, I think Yeti is up thereit should be good.»
Utah Hockey Club owner Ryan Smith was an impromptu guest on the @PatMcAfeeShow today. While on the show he said they've narrowed the team nickname down to four names, specifically naming the 'Mammoth' and 'Yeti' as two of the four frontrunners.
It appears that for their season they will stick with the name Utah Hockey Club. However if they decide on a name quickly they might base their team colours and branding on it.
With that said, the name is just one piece of the franchise. Smith will have a busy summer ahead as the team is projected to have more salary cap space than any other team in the league. Will he use this opportunity to bring in some star players? Stay tuned to find out.
The Utah hockey club has more than $40 million in salary cap space come July 1, easily the most of any NHL club.

How might they spend it?
