Karlsson had been dealing with an unidentified injury since training camp, which had kept him out of the team's first eight games of the season. Karlsson's comeback is a huge help to the Golden Knights, who currently lead the league with 4.67 goals per game.
With a 6-2-1 record and a +14 goal differential, Vegas leads the Pacific Division and is third in the league behind the Rangers and Jets following yesterday's 7-3 thumping of San Jose.Jack Eichel is tied for second place with 15 points (3 G, 12 A), while captain Mark Stone leads the league in scoring with 17 points (4 G, 13 A) in nine games.
In his comeback from injury, William Karlsson scored his first point of the season with a primary assist to Tanner Pearson's goal. Following it up with a short-handed goal himself to make it 4-1 for the Knights. During post game media, head coach Bruce Cassidy had nothing but good things to say about Karlsson.
"I like to watch him play the game. He plays it the right way."
Now that Karlsson is back, Vegas has all of its centers: Eichel on line one, Karlsson on line three, Tomá� Hertl on line two, and Nicolas Roy on line four.
The Märsta, Sweden-born player finished the previous season with Vegas with 30 goals and 30 assists in 70 regular-season games, and two more assists in seven postseason games. Karlsson is anticipated to assist on the second power-play unit and play in the middle six.
