Vancouver Canucks' general manager, Patrik Allvin, announced that he is sending two young players back down to AHL Abbottsford.

The Vancouver Canucks defeated the Pittsburgh Penguins with an amazing comeback, scoring 3 goals in 65 seconds in their Hockey Night in Canada game in their return to home ice.
Just hours after Erik Brannstrom had the best game of the season and Arshdeep Bains scored his first NHL goal ever, Patrik Allvin announced the two players would be reassigned back to the AHL.
Although this move may seem alarming to some, it is only on paper, and the two should be in the lineup for their upcoming game against the Carolina Hurricanes on Monday, October 28.
Many people are wondering why they are so frequently sent down to the minors (on paper). Since each NHL team's payroll is determined on a daily basis, Vancouver can increase their cap by making these "Yo-Yo" moves. In other words, the Canucks will save a little money on the cap by "sending them down".
This is all being done with the hopes that GM Patrik Allvin can make a big splash at the trade deadline later this season. Last year, the team acquired defenceman Nikita Zadorov and forward Elias Lindholm to bolster their playoff lineup.

This is Patrik Allvin's second time doing this; just last Friday, Bains and Brannstrom were sent down, but they returned to the roster in time for last night's (October 26) game against the Pittsburgh Penguins.
Online, some fans have been quite outspoken in their belief that, given their performance, they should also be paid, and some are even unaware that this is what the team is doing.
Rick Tocchet, the head coach, was happy to see all of his lines producing offense and converting on the plays and looks they have been practicing.
«I think there's some good plays out there, there's some good possession time. We're converting on some nice plays, the two-on-one was a big play for us. The conversion, the plays, some of the concepts we've talked about training camp, and especially last week, you can see guys trying to apply it out there, so that's nice to see,» Tocchet said.

On Monday, October 28 at 7 p.m. PT, the Canucks will take on the Carolina Hurricanes at Rogers Arena in an attempt to extend their winning streak to five games.
