The Golden Knights' victory on Saturday tied the team record for the longest winning run at home during the season. The tie is with the 2017-18 season, which also had eight consecutive victories at home.
According to head coach Bruce Cassidy, Samsonov has been experiencing soreness since Saturday and is still dealing with the condition. Cassidy stated during the team's post-practice media conference that Samsonov will not be traveling with the team, but he does not think the injury is long-term.
In six games with the Silver Knights this season, Schmid has a 3.56 GAA and a .885 save percentage, making him mediocre at the AHL level. Due to Ilya Samsonov's (undisclosed) absence, Schmid will be Adin Hill's backup in Saturday's home game against Utah.
Given that they haven't played since November 2 and have a day off in between their two games, Hill shouldn't have any fatigue problems. The Golden Knights have yet to win a game away from home, despite leading the Pacific Division in points percentage. With two Pacific Division opponents scheduled to play, now is the ideal moment for the Golden Knights to turn their road record around.
