Kurtis, a devoted Leafs supporter from Alberta, recently learned from his sponsor that he is being sued and will have to take down his website.
You've undoubtedly heard of a Maple Leafs superfan named "Kurtis from Alberta" if you follow hockey on social media. Most Maple Leafs fans would love that he is a dedicated Maple Leafs fan who enjoys game days at home in his basement. His dedication, passion, and, of course, his love of beer-which he consumes in most of his videos, to the point where he had his own made-are some of the primary factors that draw those individuals to his content.
Even though most people believe that this is a great advertisement for the Maple Leafs and a fan that most people can relate to, we may no longer be watching his content due to a lawsuit filed by one of the team's biggest sponsors.
The fact that most commenters were as shocked as Kurtis appears to be, should not be surprising. Despite the team's likely illegal actions, the risk of legal action is likely too great for anyone to stop them, and Kurtis ultimately appears to be complying. Fans of the Maple Leafs are extremely disappointed because this is one of the most well-known and loyal NHL fans, and it is absurd that he is spending time at his own house and could be sued for it.
This appears to be a sponsor going a little too far and ruining any goodwill the team might still have. Kurtis from Alberta can only be passionate about the Maple Leafs on social media, so hopefully this can be resolved so he can continue to do so.
