Although it was initially stated that Thatcher Demko wasn't close to returning, there has been a surprise change of events involving his return from injury.

There has been a surprising turn of events regarding Thatcher Demko's return from injury, despite the initial statement that he was not close to doing so.

Despite all of the rumors that Demko's knee injury has not significantly progressed, it appears that Canucks supporters can anticipate his return sooner rather than later, according to a report from Rick Dhaliwal of Donnie and Dhali, Vancouver Canucks analysts.

Thatcher Demko may be getting close to making a comeback in mid-to late November.

"I reported last week there was progress with Demko. Tocchet saying progress with Demko this week. I think he's two to three weeks away. Let's play it by ear, and I think that if he can get back in two or three weeks, that would be good."

When providing an update on Demko's health, Canucks head coach Rick Tocchet informed reporters on Tuesday that the team's star goalie had four "really good days." During training camp in September, Demko talked candidly about his popliteus injury, which he described as "rare and unique."

According to The Province, Thatcher Demko was seen on the ice Friday before practice. Demko hasn't played since Game 1 of the previous season's opening round matchup against the Nashville Predators because of a popliteus muscle injury on the back of his knee.

The 28-year-old played 51 games with the Canucks last season, his eighth in Vancouver, and recorded a 2.45 goals-against average and a .918 save percentage.

Currently, there is less of a rush to get him back and ready to play than there was at the start of the season. The Canucks have had an outstanding season in goal thanks to offseason addition Kevin Lankinen. The 29-year-old goalie has a 4-0-2 record, an elite 0.920 save percentage (S%), and a 2.29 goals against average (GAA).

Although his return is not urgent as it was before, Vancouver would like to have him back as soon as possible because Arturs Silovs, the backup goalie, has had a difficult start to the season. At the moment, he has the league's lowest save percentage with .797, a 5.00 GAA, and a 0-2-1 record.
