Despite holding a 13-7-3 record this season, the Vancouver Canucks have gone through their fair share of troubles already, and now it appears they're looking to add to the team.
With the long-term loss of Filip Hronek, the team are now looking especially short on the blue line, and after recent reports that the team are eyeing former Canuck Nikita Zadorov, that speculation is now heating up.
According to Rick Dhaliwal, the team have already made contact with the Boston Bruins about a potential reunion, despite the fact that the team didn't want to pay Zadorov long-term this past summer after a solid stint with Vancouver in 2023/24.
This season, the 6-foot-6 Russian defenseman has put together 1 goal and 7 points in 26 games played with the Bruins, and with a +3 differential on a struggling team, he's shown that he can make a genuine impact.
However, this is a team that didn't want to pay him long-term this summer, and with a six-year, $30 million contract attached to him, it certainly won't be a cheap deal to make if Patrik Allvin continues to push for a reunion.
Ultimately, the Canucks clearly need some help on the blue line, and trading for someone they have familiarity with won't be the worst idea in the world, but given that the team has many needs, we will wait and see whether or not pushing for Zadorov is the move they end up making.
