Veteran defenseman Tyler Myers of the Vancouver Canucks was carried off the ice after colliding with Philadelphia Flyers forward Joel Farabee.

After getting tangled up with Joel Farabee close to the boards in the first period, the 6-foot-8 player left the game. The puck was heading their way around the boards when Myers moved up to take a swing at Farabee. The Canucks player fell in a heap after getting his left leg mixed up with Farabee's limbs.
It appears that Myers may have injured his knee or leg in the collision. He left the game during the first period, and he was subsequently declared ineligible to play.
The large defenseman reached to clutch his knee and lay almost motionless on the ice, seemingly sensing he was in serious trouble. Roman Kaszczij, the athletic therapist for the Canucks, arrived on the scene promptly after the officials blew the play dead.
With Myers out and injured, the Canucks are left with Filip Hronek and Noah Juulsen.
The right side of the Canucks' defense could struggle if Myers is sidelined for an extended period of time. Big D-man Vincent Desharnais, who recently inked a two-year, $4 million contract, was a healthy scratch for tonight's game following a lackluster Canucks debut against the Flames.
Following the veteran's breakout season, the Canucks awarded him a new contract last summer. The parties came to an agreement that gives the blueliner $3 million a season for three years.
With the new coaching staff in place, Myers enjoyed one of his best seasons to date last year. With 29 points in 77 games at the end of the regular season, it was hoped that Myers would carry that success into this one.
As it stands, the Canucks lead 2-1 at the end of the second period. We will keep you updated with Myer's injury status.
