Vancouver Canucks fans face a tough reality as starting goaltender Thatcher Demko may miss the start of the season due to ongoing knee issues.

The Vancouver Canucks are bracing for a challenging start to the season as news emerges that starting goaltender Thatcher Demko might not be ready for Training Camp and the preseason. This update comes after a promising regular season for Demko, who led the Canucks to the Pacific Division crown and earned Vezina Trophy finalist honors.
Demko's injury woes began during the Stanley Cup Playoffs, where he struggled with a persistent knee issue. Despite undergoing rehabilitation throughout the summer, the latest reports from CHEK's Rick Dhaliwal and The Athletic's Thomas Drance confirm that Demko will not be ready for the Canucks' Training Camp and the exhibition games scheduled for next month.
The Canucks are now exploring their options and may seek additional goaltending insurance as Demko's recovery timeline remains uncertain.
According to The Athletic:
"The club is exploring its options and appears to be in the market for additional insurance in net. That's understandable, given that Demko remains without a timeline as he progresses through his rehab, and is coming off of back-to-back knee injuries.

During the 2023-24 season, Demko posted an impressive record of 35-14-2, with a 2.45 goals-against average, a .918 save percentage, and five shutouts. His stellar performance was a key factor in the Canucks' success and his candidacy for the Vezina Trophy.
As the Canucks prepare for the upcoming season, the team and its fans will be watching closely for updates on Demko's recovery and the potential impact on their goaltending situation.
