After just two games of the 2024-2025 season, Brock Boeser's next contract with the Vancouver Canucks is already the subject of intense speculation.

Two time All-Star Brock Boeser is about to get into the last season of a three-year contract worth $19,950,000. The average annual value (AAV) of the deal is $6.65 million.
The Canucks obviously want to lock him down before he becomes a free agent and sign him to a contract comparable to what he has been making, but given his 2023-2024 career year, this is probably not going to happen.
Boeser had a huge breakout season last season, scoring 40 goals and dishing out 33 assists for 73 points in 81 games.
The Florida Panthers signed 40-goal scorer Carter Verhaeghe to an 8-year contract extension worth $7 million AAV, according to a report last week from trusted NHL insider Elliotte Friedman. The contract will pay out $56 million in total, with bonuses accounting for $46 million of that amount. Given their close comparables, Brock Boeser's earnings would be expected to be around that same amount.
They talked about Boeser's contract and future with the team during the first week, which was first reported by Mark Easson of NHL Rumors, David Pagnotta, and Dennis Benstein of The Fourth Period.
There is the question of how much of a pay rise the 2015 first round will receive, with us projecting it will be around an AAV of $9 million. While this wouldn't put him in the top 10 for best-paid wingers in the NHL, it would still represent excellent compensation.

According to Pagnotta, Boeser and the Vancouver Canucks are having very informal and sparring talks right now, but he anticipates that as the NHL season goes on, the contract talks will become more serious. However, it appears that there is no pressing need to finalize a deal immediately.
Naturally, the top priority was for the 27-year-old to get back to full health and so far, all signs point to this result. Next in line, though, is his ability to play for the Canucks at a competitive level going forward, which, harsh as it may have been, meant monitoring his performance this season.
Boeser scored two goals in his first two games of the 2024-25 regular season, so the (very) early signs are positive in this regard.
For Canucks supporters, it will be interesting to see how this fits into the salary cap for at least the upcoming season. According to PuckPedia, the team currently has six of its twenty-three roster spots available, and with the most recent estimate of $92.5 million for the 2025-2026 season, that leaves $15,145,833 in cap space.
