Elias Pettersson of the Vancouver Canucks put on a really dismal show during the 2024 Stanley Cup Playoffs; however, a new finding reveals why.

Elias Pettersson suffered a little decline in 202324, finishing with just 89 points, after collecting 102 points in the 20222023 season. He also had a terrible postseason run, managing just six points through 13 games.
Although many people believed Pettersson was too soft for the postseason, this is untrue since he has been dealing with a knee ailment since January, which accounts for both his decline and subpar postseason play.
Elias Pettersson says he's been playing with a bad knee since January.
Elias Pettersson says he's been playing with a bad knee since January.

"The longer it went, the more pain I felt," Pettersson said.

Doesn't require any procedure this offseason, just time to rest.

This season, Pettersson participated in every game for the Canucks, and the team's success may have been salvaged by load-managing him. Now, Pettersson will use the winter to heal and perhaps go back to his previous level of play in time for the 202425 season.
