NHL insider Darren Dreger hinted on a TSN radio show that Lane Lambert, head coach of the New York Islanders, might join Craig Berube's Maple Leafs staff this season.

Dreger made these comments on TSN1050s FirstUp while discussing changes to the Leafs coaching staff following Berube's appointment to replace Sheldon Keefe. Its expected that Berube will introduce some new faces to his team, than relying solely on Keefe's previous staff. Lambert was specifically mentioned as an addition to provide coaching for the forwards.
"I've heard that Lane Lambert, formerly of the New York Islanders, could join the Toronto Maple Leafs. I would assume that he would manage the forwards under the guidance of Berube."
This news aligns with more speculations surrounding the Leafs. Another insider, Elliotte Friedman hinted in his 32 Thoughts" segment that Lane Lambert had ties to the Leafs in some capacity, although he didn't provide specifics. Nonetheless it is positive to see sources corroborating this information.
Elliotte Friedman on 32 TP: «Some of the names that I have heard that have been kind of connected a bit to Toronto have been Brad Lauer who mutually left Winnipeg & I heard Lane Lambert's name out there too Toronto, knowing them, they're casting a wide net.»
