NHL insider Mollie Walker has disclosed the contract amount that Igor Shesterkin is seeking from the New York Rangers for his deal.

Shesterkin, the goalie for the Rangers has been a standout performer in the playoffs. Despite their loss, Shesterkin achieved a .927 save percentage and a modest 2.28 GAA. As the upcoming season wraps up, the talented Russian goalie will soon be an unrestricted free agent and his team is hopeful that the Rangers will offer him a substantial extension.
The 28 year old Shesterkin aims to exceed Artemi Panarin's salary of $11,642.857 to become the highest paid player on the Rangers. Reports suggest that Shesterkin's team may be eyeing a $12 million salary in his contract negotiations set to commence on July 1st with both parties involved.

Shesterkin's upcoming agreement could mark a milestone in his career trajectory. For comparison Andrei Vasilevskiy's deal with Tampa Bay carries a $9.5 million cap hit and valued total of $76 million, while Carey Price's eight year pact with Montreal boasts an average annual value of $10.5 million, for a total sum of $84 million.
The Rangers are not hesitant to invest in their goaltender. Henrik Lundqvist, a standout player for the Rangers signed a seven year contract worth $59.5 million ($8.5 million annually against the salary cap) in December 2013 securing his largest paycheck to date.
Could the Rangers be gearing up to make a commitment to their next star goalie?
