Many people are criticizing a member of the Toronto Maple Leafs coaching staff, with some questioning why he is already under fire so early in the 2024-25 campaign.

Some are already speculating that a member of the Toronto Maple Leafs' coaching staff may be fired because of a particular aspect of the team's recent play, as the Leafs are currently hovering around .500 win % after 12 games into the 2024-25 NHL regular season.
Over the summer, Marc Savard joined the Toronto Maple Leafs as an assistant coach. His success on the power play as an NHL player was the reason he was brought in, according to head coach Craig Berube. https://www.sportsnet.ca/nhl/article/maple-leafs-ugly-power-play-sinks-to-new-low-in-loss-to-blues/ Savard's standing in Toronto is being called into question by that.
This season, the Toronto Maple Leafs have gone 3-for-38 in power plays. With a success rate of 7.8%, the team is dead last in the NHL.
"There's not a directness to it. We're not getting pucks to the net enough. We're on the power play. We need to shoot pucks more. We need to get pucks to the net and create opportunities around the net on broken plays. But we're not. There's not a shot mentality on the power play right now."
"We're working on it nonstop. We're trying to figure things out. It's not like we're not," Marner told reporters in St. Louis. "It'll eventually click, so we can't get frustrated with one another. We gotta stay confident. We gotta know we're doing the right things. And we will get results."

Marc Savard was brought in to correct the power play, which has significantly deteriorated under his leadership, regardless of the actual cause of the problems. Savard might soon be on the unemployment line, so he and the other coaching staff members will need to come up with a solution quickly. Toronto should have one of the best man-advantage systems in the league because they have too much firepower to struggle the way they do. For a period.
