The Toronto Marlies have officially welcomed Steve Sullivan as their new assistant coach, adding him to John Gruden's coaching staff.

Sullivan brings a wealth of experience from his time as Assistant General Manager of the Arizona Coyotes and his management of their AHL affiliate, the Tucson Roadrunners.
At 50, Steve Sullivan has had a significant impact in hockey management. From 2017 to 2021, he served as Assistant General Manager for the Arizona Coyotes, where he also oversaw the Tucson Roadrunners. During his tenure with Tucson, Sullivan led the team to an impressive record of 112-65-11-6, securing two Pacific Division Championships in three seasons. His strategic management played a crucial role in establishing the Roadrunners as one of the top teams in their division.
NHL insider Chris Johnston first reported Sullivan's new role with the Marlies earlier today.
Steve Sullivan's time as Assistant General Manager of the Arizona Coyotes also saw the team achieve an overall regular season record of 57-55-14. His comprehensive understanding of team development and player management will be invaluable as the Marlies aim for championship success.
Before transitioning into management, Sullivan enjoyed a long and fruitful NHL career, playing 1,011 regular-season games and 50 playoff games across teams like the Pittsburgh Penguins, New Jersey Devils, Toronto Maple Leafs, Chicago Blackhawks, and Nashville Predators. He accumulated 290 goals and 457 assists throughout his career, defying the odds after being drafted 233rd overall by the Devils in the 1994 NHL Draft.
A native of Timmins, Ontario, Sullivan's journey from a late draft pick to a successful NHL player and now a respected coach and manager underscores his deep commitment to the sport. The Marlies are optimistic that Sullivan's wealth of experience and track record of success will help guide their young players towards achieving their full potential and bringing home a championship.
The Toronto Marlies, the primary development team for the Toronto Maple Leafs, have seen 82 players progress to the NHL since 2005. With Sullivan on board, the team hopes to continue this tradition of excellence.
