The Toronto Maple Leafs remain open to trading forward Mitch Marner, and reports indicate that the Carolina Hurricanes are proposing a major blockbuster deal.

Although the summer's chaos has subsided, speculation persists about the futures of Mitch Marner in Toronto and Martin Necas of the Carolina Hurricanes. Both players might be traded before the 2024/25 season kicks off, with recent reports indicating that Carolina has made a significant offer for Marner.
Im told the #Canes have sent a legit offer for #LeafsForever Marner that includes Necas as well as 3rd and 4th rd picks.

CAR actively talking with Necas, despite his displeasure with team and high asking price of 9M. #UtahHC, #Sabres, #FlyTogether, #NHLJets all in contact.
Reports suggest that Necas is seeking more than $9 million AAV on a long-term contract. However, given his underwhelming production relative to expectations, it's understandable why the Hurricanes might be hesitant to meet his demands. With John Tavares potentially hitting free agency in the summer of 2025, acquiring a young center could be a crucial move for the Maple Leafs' future. Yet, with Marner holding a No-Trade Clause, he still has control over his destination.

The same report also indicates that Mitch Marner is seeking $13 million per year on his next contract. Considering his performance in the playoffs, this asking price might compel Brad Treliving to make a decision.
#LeafsForever and Marner extension numbers at this time are pretty huge, looking like 8x13M is the asking price form the Marner camp. At this time Leafs are not happy with that.

#UtahHC #NHLJets #Canes and #Sabres all linked to Marner.
It's uncertain how advanced the negotiations are between the two sides, but with both teams aiming to trade their key players, a deal remains a strong possibility.
